Top Five Winter Vacation Destinations

According to U.S. News & World Report‘s annual global rankings, here are the top five (out of 20) Best Winter Vacations around the world this year:

1. Hawaii – The Big Island

Whether it is Honolii Beach Park or Kahaluu Beach, you can catch the best swells at Hawaii during this time of the year. You might want to visit during the off-peak September-November, unless you are there just to winter surf December onwards. Either way, Hawaii is a haven for nature-lovers, especially when it’s between 20°C-25°C (70°F-80°F).

2. Rome

You will do yourself a great favour by visiting the romantic city where a classic wonder of the world lies, during winter months. Yeah, it will be a little to cold, but think of spending hours by Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum and Pantheon on your own – instead of being swamped by throngs of tourists.

3. Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Get your adrenalin rushing at Jackson Hole Mountain’s snow-capped slopes before rejuvenating in the cosy Granite Hot Springs at Wyoming. Of course, some Elk spotting at the nearby National Elk Refuge wont hurt – oh so much eye-candy for the Instagram feed.

4. New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS

If the bustling French Quarter’s bar-to-bar jazz isn’t enough to enthral you, plan your trip around the buzzing NOLA Christmas Fest. Bask in the beauty of the colour-splattered architecture, intricate artwork and 24/7 festivity. At lease that’s how the Bourbon Street does it.

5. Phuket, Thailand

THAILAND

It is never a bad time to get a beach tan, especially when you are out to dodge the cold. This Andaman Sea jewel attracts many tourists for good reason – the coral richness and adventure activities paired with laid back beach lifestyle – a perfect place to unwind after the hard work of a long year.
